Registering a private company with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission, from the forms through to the registration documents landing in your inbox. The statutory fees are the CIPC’s and are paid to them; what we charge for is doing it properly and once.
Name reservation
Reserving a company name, including the part nobody enjoys: choosing alternatives that will actually clear, so a rejected application does not cost you a fortnight while somebody else registers the name you wanted.
Branding and identity
A logo, a colour and type system, and the files in the formats you will actually be asked for. Enough to look like a real business on a quote, an invoice and a shopfront window, without a rebrand in eighteen months.
Business administration
The ongoing paperwork a small business generates and nobody has time for — document templates, filing, correspondence, records kept somewhere findable by somebody other than you.
Registering a company
What a registration actually gives you.
Almost every small South African business that registers ends up as a private company — the one carrying “(Pty) Ltd” after its name. The filing is made with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission, it is done electronically, and what comes back is an entity: a registration number, a Memorandum of Incorporation and the registration documents that every bank, supplier and procurement department will ask to see.
Two things surprise people. The first is that reserving a name is a separate step from registering the company, and it is where most of the delay in this process comes from — the register is crowded and a name close to one already on it gets refused. The second is how much the registration does not include. It does not open a bank account, get you onto a customer’s vendor list, or put a logo on your invoice. Each of those is a further application, and each will ask for the company’s details — which is why they have to agree with each other from the beginning.

Do you handle tax registration, SARS or accounting?
No. Nira Business Services does not offer tax, accounting or bookkeeping services and does not give tax advice. Company registration and tax registration are separate things that get spoken about as one, so it is worth being plain: for anything involving SARS, VAT, payroll or annual financial statements, speak to a registered accountant or tax practitioner. We would rather tell you that now than be the reason you assumed it was covered.
How much does it cost?
It depends on what you need, so we quote it. There is no list. Two things are worth separating: the statutory fees payable to the CIPC, which are set by them and are the same wherever you register, and what Nira charges for handling it. Is this the same as the virtual assistant service?
No, and they are deliberately kept apart. Nira Talent places South African professionals into ongoing remote support roles with businesses abroad. Nira Business Services is a South African division doing one-off and ongoing administrative work for South African businesses. Same company, different work, different clients — which is why this page is not in the main navigation.
Which parts of South Africa do you work in?
All of it. The CIPC register is national and the filing is electronic, so a founder in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria or a town none of those are near goes through an identical process, and none of it requires anyone to come to an office. We keep pages for the four largest centres because what happens around a registration genuinely does differ by city — who asks you for the documents, and what they expect them to look like — but the registration itself does not.
What is the difference between reserving a name and registering a company?
Reserving a name holds that name for you; registering a company creates the legal entity. They are separate steps with separate fees, which is why they get confused — and why it is possible to end up holding a reserved name with no company behind it. It is also possible to register a company without a reserved name and trade under the registration number until one is settled, which is occasionally the right call when a deadline is the binding constraint.
Can you register a company for someone who is not in South Africa?
That depends on the shareholding and directorship involved, and it is not a question to answer on a web page with a general yes or no. Send the specifics through the form and you will get a straight answer about what is and is not possible, including the times when the answer is that you need a legal adviser and not us.
